SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - If property owners in the city of Sheboygan chip in 13 cents more per thousand on their property tax next year they will balance the city budget.  Chief Administrative Officer Jim Amodeo presented the Executive Budget to the City Council Monday night.  Amodeo said initial budget requests have been cut by nearly five hundred thousand dollars, leaving a budget deficit of $293,000.He said increasing the tax rate for city purposes by 13 cents per thousand, or 13 dollars on a one hundred thousand dollar home will cover the deficit.  Amodeo said city staffing levels have been cut by 51 people over the past several years.  He said, as proposed, the budget contains a two and a half percent increase in city salaries.  Amodeo said the budget will now go to the standing committees for further review.  The final version will go to the city council in September.
