PLYMOUTH, WI (WHBL) - The Plymouth Chamber of Commerce will use state assistance with helping to promote their upcoming Mural and Arts Festival.  On Thursday state Department of Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett presented a 29-thousand dollar Joint Effort Marketing grant to the group.

Klett said receiving one of these grants is not easy as less than 50-percent of those applying get their request.  She added it helped that Plymouth is working towards differentiating themself from other cities, highlighting them as "Wisconsin's mural capital".

Chamber Executive Director Mary Martin said the money will go towards promoting their event outside of Sheboygan County.  They will be advertising in other state markets like Milwaukee and Green Bay/Fox Valley, but also outside of state such as Chicago and the Twin Cities.

Plymouth has 25 murals painted on downtown buildings.  Martin expects the added advertising will bring in around 45-hundred people to the Plymouth area and have an economic impact of 390-thousand dollars.
