SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The Sheboygan Police Department has a new initiative underway to use citizen help to lower traffic incidents.  The PACE Car Program is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to lower the number of violations in certain city areas.  It will consist of volunteers who will practice safe driving skills and be identified by a bumper sticker or decal on their vehicle.  Captain Stephen Cobb says having people see how these drivers travel may affect how they use the roadway.  Cobb says those stickers will serve as a visual reminder that there are people on the road that practice safe driving and hopefully it might prompt behavior changes in others.  While anyone can take part in the program, the department will focus on recruiting the majority of participants from members of neighborhood groups.
