SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. (WHBL) - One person is dead and two others were injured in a Friday afternoon crash on Highway 23.

The crash happened around 2:45 at the intersection of Highway 23 and County Road TT. Sheboygan County Lieutenant James Gottsacker says a vehicle heading west on Highway 23 struck a vehicle heading south on County TT. Rescue crews were called out to the scene, and had to extract people out of one of the vehicles.

A 75 year old woman from Sheboygan Falls died from her injuries, and a 81 year old man from Sheboygan Falls was taken to Froedert Medical with life threatening injuries. A 35 year old woman from Plymouth suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Gottsacker says the road was closed for around two hours due to the investigation. "Because of the nature of the accident and the severity of it, we had our accident reconstruction team go out and take measurements and that requires the road be shut down." He says this is one of a number of accidents in the area along Highway 23, and that people need to take the time and be careful on uncontrolled intersections. "If you find yourself having to stop at one of those intersections, take the time to thoroughly look and check traffic so that you can safely cross those roadways."

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Names are being withheld pending notification of family.
