SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - Leaders at Mead Public Library are trying to use Pokemon GO to get teens hooked on books this summer.
Teen librarian Matt Beinemann says the library has a number of Pokestops that are accessible from inside the library, and they're using that to their advantage to get kids inside for a look. "We're using this to promote our summer reading program which goes until the end of August. We want people that are walking by to use the Pokestops to come in, to make sure they stop in." Those Pokestops can be used to collect in game items and also to catch the little in game monsters.
The library is promoting the building's free wifi Internet and convenient charging stations as a place to take a break during a day's walking to catch 'em all. Beinemann says they're already seeing a number of players hanging out in the teen reading area to take advantage of the program, and he's encouraging players to declare their love for their in-game teams by challenging them to contests this summer.
