SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A dog bit a Sheboygan man yesterday afternoon, and police are asking for your help in finding it.
That dog bite happened around noon on Tuesday on the 1900 of South 13th Street. Sergeant Joel Kuczynski says the dog may have gotten loose from a neighbor. "A man who was in his own backyard was bitten by a loose dog in the neighborhood, which is described as a German Shepard/Rottweiler mix dog with long brown hair." He says that stray animals in the city are rare, and it's likely the dog got away from where it lives.
Kuczynski says finding the dog is a matter of public health. "Just because the dog looks like it was taken care of don't mean it's up to date on its shots. We need to verify that the animal had its rabies vaccinations so that there's no risk to the person who was bit, and to keep them from going through unnecessary medical procedures."
Anyone who knows the dog or has any other information should call police at 459-3333.
