Man Arrested For Getting Drunk And Violent

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan man is facing charges after allegedly getting drunk and violent over the weekend

25-year-old Steven D Hoffman Jr pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to 2nd time OWI, 2nd time driving with a prohibited alcohol concentration, domestic abuse and resisting an officer.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called out to the 1200 block of Parkwood Boulevard early Sunday morning for a report of a combative drunk man. As officers headed to the scene, they spotted Hoffman pulling back into the apartment's parking lot in a vehicle. Officers at the scene stopped Hoffman before he could get into his apartment. He then turned to fight officers, and they say they were forced to use physical contact to get him to back off and eventually threatened to tase him before he was taken into custody.

Police were about to administer a field sobriety test when Hoffman allegedly admitted he was intoxicated. Reports from the complaint say that breath tests from the scene put Hoffman's blood alcohol content at .17, over twice the legal limit.

Police then stated interviewing witnesses. A friend told police that he and Hoffman had been drinking whiskey earlier on Saturday when Hoffman got violent. Police say the man told them that Hoffman allegedly struck the mother of his children after he grabbed one of his children. The reports says the friend then tried to tackle Hoffman before he got in his vehicle and drove away from the scene.

Hoffman is free on a $500 cash bond and will be back in court next month for hearings.
