SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Sheboygan County Assistant District Attorney Nathan Haberman is running for higher office.
He says a number of police and law enforcement leaders in Calumet County reached out to him to run for District Attorney. "They have a situation in Calumet County where they'd like some different leadership, and I'm willing to step in and take on the role." Haberman calls that partnership vital to enfocing the law and says he'll step up to improve the lives of residents. "They need to be able to communicate, they need to be able to trust each other, and if they can do that, the citizens are going to be protected, the citizens are going to be better off, and there's going to be, hopefully, a reduction in crime."
Haberman has worked for the last six and half years as an Assistant District Attorney in Sheboygan County and spent time after graduating from Marquette Law School working with the Waukesha County DA's office. He was also recognized by the Wisconsin Victim/Witness Professional Association for Outstanding Victim Advocacy in May of 2014.
In a statement, Sheboygan County DA Joe DeCecco says "Haberman is a tremendous asset to our office. It will be difficult to lose him. I have no doubt he will serve the citizens of Calumet County with the same dedication and commitment that he demonstrated to the citizens of Sheboygan County for the last seven years."
Haberman will be facing current Calumet County DA Nicholas Bolz who is running for re-election.
