SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Sheboygan police say they had another successful OWI patrol over the weekend.
It was one of the city's High Visibility Education and Enforcement actions. Sheboygan police sergeant Terry Meyer says eight extra officers were out on special patrols along the I-43 corridor through Sheboygan County Saturday night. "They had 30 traffic stops, in which 43 warnings and 14 citations were issued, along with two subjects who were arrested for operating while intoxicated." He says the State Patrol and other agencies have been focusing on that area.
Meyer says these patrols are there to remind people that it's not worth it to drive drunk. "It protects you, and it protects your family and it protects people you know. Anyone out there should be able to drive the streets safely and not have to worry about someone who's had too much to drink behind the wheel of a car."
He says if you do end your night intoxicated, it's best to find a cab, a designated driver, or use one of the Tavern League's Safe Rides Home.
