SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- State officials are reminding drivers of more closures on the intersection of I-43 and Highway 28 in the coming weeks.
Department of Transportation Spokesman Mark Kantola says ramp closures on the project start on Monday. "There's going to be ramp closures throughout the project, but they're going to be staggered so we're not going to have a lot of ramps closed at the same time." The southbound off ramp from I-43 will be closed from Monday through mid June. Traffic on I-43 southbound will be rerouted to Highway 28 via Highway 23.
Kantola says the reason this construction is scheduled through October is because crews are doing a complete rebuild of the entire corridor. "This pavement is at the end of its useful life, and as everyone knows that's when you start getting the big potholes, that's when you start getting the frost heaves, that's when you start getting impacts to your vehicles driving over it."
As always, Kantola reminds drivers to slow down and respect the crews doing the work on the roads, and give other drivers room to get around safely.
