SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan man who allegedly tried to force himself on a female companion faces sexual assault charges.
20-year-old Matthew Mair was charged on Tuesday with third degree sexual assault.
According to a criminal complaint, a woman called police last Saturday to report the assault. She told police that she and Mair had dated back in high school, but that he'd been sending her texts over the last several weeks to try and set up a meeting. She initially refused, but then agreed, and Mair drove the two of them to McDonald's. She then said that instead of driving her home, he drove past her house after saying "So we going to have sex". She made it clear to officers that it was more of a statement than a question.
The woman claims that Mair started trying to get his hands in her clothes and grope her. He drove her to his apartment and tried to get her out of the car while groping her some more. She says she resisted the whole time, and eventually Mair gave up and drove her back to her apartment.
Mair is currently free on a $5,000 cash bond and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing April 29th.
