UNDATED (WHBL) -- Today is your last day to file your taxes.
IRS Spokesman Christopher Miller says you need to have your taxes either filed electronically or postmarked by midnight tonight. Miller says the best option to get that done today is to use the IRS Free File system on their website. "They've just agreed to allow people who generally are in a certain income bracket to be able to use this product for free and you get to electronically file your taxes for free using brand name tax software." That software is also able to find deductions and hanlde all the math for you to help keep your information accurate.
If you're expecting a refund, Miller says filing electronically can also get that refund to you faster. "You can choose direct deposit, and so you're able to put in your account information, and your refund goes right to you. Right from us to you in the shortest amount of time possible."
If you're not going to be able to get your taxes done in time today, make sure to file for an extension. That will give you an extra few months to file your taxes, but remember that you'll still have to pay any taxes that you owe today.
