SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Sheboygan's city council will be holding their last meeting for this session tonight.
Tonight will be a special meeting because it's the last night Alderman and Council President Don Hammond will be with the council. Hammond announced his resignation after the primary elections earlier this month in order to give residents time to file for consideration for getting his council seat. Mayor Mike Vandersteen took those applications through Friday, and a new alderman will be elected by the council at a special organizational meeting tomorrow.
The board will also be considering an application from the Sheboygan Jaycees to build a new neighborhood playground at Deland Park. That application was originally filed back in 2008 before the recession but is now being brought back to council as economic conditions have improved.
The city will also be discussing legal options they have in connection with the failure of the Hot In Place Paving projects that resurfaced a number of city roads. There's already some severe damage to those road surfaces and council members have voiced their disapproval of the process.
Tonight's meeting gets underway at 6 pm.
