SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan woman is seeking a competency evaluation in connection with an assault on police officers this January.
41-year-old Heather Ahles pleaded not guilty by reasons of mental disease or defect to two counts of battery to law enforcement officers. A judge has ordered the state public defender's office to find a doctor to give her an examination and come back with the results next month.
According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to a home on the 1400 block of Heerman Road on January 29th for a welfare check on Ahles from her ex-husband. When officers arrived, they interviewed Ahles, who told them she was under the influence of prescription drugs but didn't need medical assistance.
Officers got call later that day of Ahles driving erratically near Cooper Elementary and getting into a disturbance at McDonalds. They headed back to her house, where she allegedly tried to run away into the home but officers were able to restrain her. She started fighting with police and was allegedly screaming "I’m a body building b----, you don’t know who you are f---ing with." Officers eventually had to use a taser to subdue her.
Police say one officer was bitten and a female officer was struck repeatedly in the incident.
Ahles faces up to 12 years in prison if found guilty of the battery charges. She'll be back in court for a pretrial conference May 23rd.
