SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Plans for Sheboygan's proposed new skate park will be up for viewing this evening at a public meeting.

Mayor Mike Vandersteen says you'll have a chance to see a variety of ideas on how to build the new park. "The architects that we hired, Stantec, put together some preliminary plans together and they're going to reveal some of those options for the people at the meeting."

That park was torn down last July, and officials at the time were working on plans to build a new park. A number of meetings have been held since then, and Vandersteen says Stantec has come back with a number of ideas to improve the park. "We want to make it friendly for both skateboards and BMX Bikers, so it'll be something that has options for both that make it interesting." He says that a number of locations have been proposed for the park's location, but that Kiwanis Park is his prefered spot because of it's ease of access and parking and comfort facilities on site.

Vandersteen says they're hoping to move from wood construction to a full concrete facility. "I think it'll be something will last much longer and be brand new and get more people more interested and keep people interested in skating." The new park will also likely be smaller than the old park, but have more features for use.

Tonight's meeting starts at 6:30 pm at Kiwanis Park and is open to the public.
