SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan man was arrested for illegally driving a truck after a joyride got him stuck on the beach.
41-year-old Jesus Hernandez is charged with one count each of operating a vehicle without consent and driving after revocation.
According to a criminal complaint, officers spotted a truck stuck in the sand just north of King Park on Tuesday. Nobody was currently in the truck, but the officer spotted some snow shovels and 2 x 10s that had been used in an attempt to free the truck from the sand. The truck belonged to Justeene Boss, who reported it stolen earlier in the day. Boss told police she'd gone off to the casino the day before and when she returned home the next day, she found that the truck was missing. The keys were also missing.
Police discovered that Hernandez and another person entered Boss's home and took the truck without Boss knowing it. Officers found Hernandez on Wednesday, who allegedly told police that he wanted to turn himself in. Police say he confessed to taking the truck because he wanted to joyride down along the lakefront, but got stuck instead. He also told officers where they could find the missing keys.
Hernandez remains in jail on a $250 cash bond and will be back in court in April for a pre-trial conference.
