SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - When Sheboygan Police were called to the area of North 20th Street and Calumet Drive the morning of October 30th they were sent to investigate a possible stabbing in that area.  The victim was found in the area, but that person did not come forward as being the one who suffered the stab wound.

Thus begins the criminal complaint against 30 year old Devin Henry.  Sheboygan County prosecutors charged the Sheboygan Falls man Wednesday with six offenses - three for bail jumping, two for obstructing an officer, and one for disorderly conduct.

Henry’s stab wound was so severe that surgery was required to deal with a punctured lung and profuse bleeding.  While the criminal complaint does not indicate who allegedly caused the wound, the investigation into the incident has found enough evidence to charge Henry for his alleged actions with law enforcement.

It began after officers arrived at the scene of where the stabbing reportedly took place.  An officer got in touch with a 26-year-old female who was in the area and asked her if she knew of anything connected to the stabbing.  She claimed she did not and was only in the area to pick up her boyfriend.  The officer noticed the boyfriend in her vehicle, who identified himself as Michael Zidek, and asked him if he knew anything.  He claimed he knew nothing, so the officer let the two leave the area.

Just to be sure, the officer reportedly ran their names through the police database.  This led to the discovery that Michael Zidek was actually Devin Henry, who had a writ of commitment through the City of Sheboygan.

At that point, dispatch informed the officer that St. Nicholas Hospital had a stab victim, who was identified as Henry.  Officers also found a knife that they believe was used in the incident - a large butcher-style kitchen knife.

After Henry's surgery, a police detective interviewed him to find out what happened.  Henry claimed he was at a bar on Calumet Drive that night, and when he was leaving, a person in the bar stabbed him.  He added he could not reach anyone for a while because of phone trouble, but eventually he got in touch with his girlfriend to take him to the hospital.

The detective had doubts about the story, given that Henry claimed he was stabbed around 2 a.m. but arrived at the hospital about five hours later.  Given the extent of the injury, the detective asked how he kept himself from bleeding to death.  Henry claimed it was due to the alcohol and adrenalin in his body.

The complaint adds the investigation was able to connect a friend of Henry’s who reportedly was with him that evening.  The friend claimed he was with Henry that night, adding Henry texted him around 5:50 a.m. that he had gotten home safety.

Detectives also interviewed the girlfriend to get her side of the situation.  She claims Henry left their place the evening before to record a rap single.  The next morning she received a call from Henry asking for a ride back from the Citgo station near Cooper Elementary due to drinking the night before.

When the girlfriend arrived, she said the two got into an argument that escalated into a fight and Henry pushing her to the ground.  This forced her to flee and to hide inside the gas station for about five minutes.

When she left the gas station, she noticed Henry was not outside and soon got a call from Henry that claims he was stabbed.  She went back to where the argument occurred and she noticed Henry was bleeding and had a knife in his hand  She got him into her car and that is when Henry allegedly told her not to tell anyone what had just happened and said he would use a fake name if police came by.

Henry now faces over nine years in prison if found guilty of all charges he faces.
