SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man will spend 60 days in the local jail as part of his sentence in connection to two domestic abuse incidents.

Judge James Bolgert sentenced 41 year old Corey Copeland Senior last week to the jail time, with an additional 60 days stayed, plus two years probation that were withheld as part of a plea deal.

The deal included Copeland pleading no contest to one count each of battery and disorderly conduct as a domestic abuse repeater.  A second charge of battery was dismissed.

The criminal complaint states Sheboygan Police were called to a residence on South 11th Street November 30 to investigate a disturbance.  Inside, police reportedly found a female who told officers she was trying to leave the residence but Copeland kept her from doing so.

Later on, she provided police more information on the events of that day, plus another incident on November 1 where she was struck by Copeland.

When interviewed, Copeland admitted getting into a verbal argument with the victim, but denied hitting her.
