SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man and a Manitowoc woman are facing drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Sheboygan this week.
Sheboygan county prosecutors charged 29-year-old Choua Yang and 21-year-old Danielle Pospichal for possessing amphetamine, narcotic drugs, THC, and drug paraphernalia. Yang is also charged with maintaining a drug trafficking vehicle and bail jumping.
The officers performed a search of the vehicle after it made a stop at a home on Erie Avenue, known to the officer as a drug house, and allegedly seeing Yang shaking a woman’s hand in what could have been connected to a drug deal.
With the assistance of a K-9 unit, the search of the vehicle officers discovered a Barbie bag inside Pospichal’s wallet with a crystal substance inside, which tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. Also found in the wallet was over a dozen small baggies typically used for packaging illegal controlled substances.
Elsewhere in the vehicle was a backpack which had a small safe in it. An officer was able to guess the combination, and found inside a scale, Barbie baggies, and a Cars Barbie bag. Also inside was a Ziploc baggie with a substance later identified as methamphetamine, and 14 pills of morphine sulfate. The backpack also reportedly contained two pipes and a straw, that officers believed can be used to scoop illegal drugs.
The next step for officers was to take the two to the police department. The complaint states when Yang was read his Miranda rights, he requested an attorney. As for Pospichal, a search was done on her body, and found hiding inside her shirt was a large bag containing a green leafy substance. It was later tested to be marijuana, over six grams worth.
After finding this, an officer began to interview Pospichal. She allegedly said she knew Yang as a friend and was at his place all day. She claimed she was getting a ride from him to Manitowoc, but along the way he stopped at a home on Erie Avenue and noticed he did a “hand shake” with a woman before the traffic stop.
The officer asked Pospichal to be honest with the information she was providing. That reportedly led Pospichal to grab more bags that were still on her body with what the officer thought was methamphetamine inside. A later examination determined all the bags on her had over 40 grams of meth in it.
Continuing the interview, Pospichal claimed the drugs and the backpack were inside the vehicle before she got in it. She added just as the traffic stop was getting started, Yang told her to hide the marijuana under the seat and to put the rest of the items on her to try to hide them. As for the baggies in her wallet, Pospichal allegedly said she dealt meth in the past but not in the past few months.
Both Pospichal and Yang each face over 30 years in prison time if found guilty of all charges against them.
