SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Plymouth woman was given a two year probation sentenced after she violated a deferred prosecution agreement for a retail theft incident at a Sheboygan Wal-Mart two years ago this month.
Judge Angela Sutkiewicz sentenced 29 year old Samantha Stephan last week for a felony count of retail theft.
The criminal complaint against her states Sheboygan Police were called to the southside Wal-Mart in Sheboygan for a retail theft incident with a suspect fleeing in the parking lot. Officers stopped the suspect, identified as Stephan, and found her to be in possession of several video games from the store.
The store’s Loss Prevention department told officers they had evidence that showed Stephan grabbing items such as video games, clothing and lotion totaling over 500 dollars. Store officials said they approached her before she left the store, but she reportedly dropped the items and tried to flee.
When interviewed, Stephan admitted to the crime.
Judge Sutkiewicz originally gave Stephan a two year deferred prosecution for the charge in May of 2014, but that was revoked in October of this year.
Stephan was also found to have drug paraphernalia in her purse. She admitted she did drugs in the past but claimed she was clean for months. That led to jail time in connection to other retail theft incidents that occurred over a five month period at stores in Sheboygan County.
