SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan woman will have to spend ten days in the local jail, starting later this month, as part of her sentence for driving under the influence with children in her vehicle last year. 61 year old Peggy Anne Converse was sentenced last week by Judge Timothy Van Akkeren after she pleaded guilty to the charge.
The criminal complaint against her stated Sheboygan Police received word July 24, 2014 of a vehicle that was driving erratically around 14th Street and Erie Avenue. Several witnesses told police they saw the vehicle drive through a red light, drove with two wheels on the curb, and nearly caused several accidents with other vehicles.
When police stopped the vehicle the driver, identified as Converse, admitted to trying to take three kids, ages seven to 12, to Dairy Queen when she realized she had taken medication prior to driving. She claimed she was trying to get home when the reported erratic driving occurred.
Also part of the sentence for Converse was 24 months each of having her license revoked and needing to use an ignition interlock.
