SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan County is looking for two people to fill openings on county-wide public boards.
One is a first alternate to serve a three year term on the Sheboygan County Board of Adjustments, which runs through June of 2018. That person must reside in one of nine townships that currently don’t have a member representing them.
The Board of Adjustment is an independent quasi-judicial body for the county government, whose role is to hear and decide appeals to the county’s Planning and Conservation and Airport Department for issues related to the administration of sanitary, shoreland, floodplain, nonmetallic mining, and airport height limitation ordinances.
Those interested in serving must live in an unincorporated parts of the following townships: Holland, Lima, Mitchell, Russell, Scott, Sherman, Wilson, Sheboygan, or Sheboygan Falls. They must be eligible to vote. They must also be able to make board meetings, which are the third Wednesday of the month about three times a year, and scheduled field inspections, which are the Saturday morning before a meeting.
A person who wants this position should be capable of critical analysis, make independent decisions, conscientiously apply unprejudiced standards to a variety of zoning and land use situations, and adhere to board rules and regulations. Training regarding zoning is available throughout the state.
The second opening is for a member at large position on the Eastern Shores Library System Board. That position begins in January, and runs through 2018.
That board oversees the library services offered in Sheboygan and Ozaukee counties. That includes the 13 public libraries in the counties, plus the bookmobile that services rural areas.
Anyone interested in this position must be able to make meetings on the last Monday of the month, which is at least six times per year. The time commitment is typically two hours for each regular meeting, and another two hours a month for committee meetings.
Anyone interested in applying for either position should send a letter of interest and brief resume/biography to County Administrator Adam Payne by December 2nd. Both appointments will be up for confirmation by the full county board December 15th.
