Fond du Lac , WI (WHBL - KFIZ) - Fond du Lac and the Green Bay Packers are teaming up in what will become a statewide effort to provide ID kits for every kid in Wisconsin. It’s an outgrowth of a program the American Football Coaches Association started in 1997. Kenny Hansmire is the executive director of the association. He says they couldn’t have picked a better team than the Packers to launch this new effort.
Packers Wide Receiver Jordy Nelson says being a Packer means having a sense of community. The effort also involves the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, the local fire fighters union and Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue. Fond du Lac City Manger Joe Moore says the city has its own great team in its firefighters to launch the Fill-the-Helmet campaign.
Each child ID kit contains an inkless fingerprint card, a DNA collection swab, and a cut-out wallet card to be used in the event that a child ever goes missing.
