FOND DU LAC, WI (WHBL/KFIZ) - It was an incident that could have been something serious, or just people reacting the wrong way at the time. We won't know until all the information about it is found.
Fond du Lac Police are investigating an incident Monday evening in which an 8-year-old girl claims she was grabbed while riding her scooter.
Police say it happened on Marquette Street just north of East Merrill Avenue around 5:20 p.m. The girl said a white man in his 30’s grabbed her by the arms. She got free by biting him on the back of a hand. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says the man then ran off in a northwesterly direction.
As an investigation continued, officials later learned the girl may have been at fault. She got bored while playing with other children at a playground and rode her scooter around the block. When she came around a corner she ran over the man’s foot, which is when he grabbed her by an arm.
Klein says officers want to talk to the man to get his side of the story, and they are asking the public to help find him. The man is described as being about 5-foot-11 inches tall, with a thin build and brown curly hair that was ear length. He was wearing dark blue jeans, a white t-shirt with stains, and dirty while shoes. No car was associated with the incident.
