TOWN OF WILSON, WI (WHBL) - Anyone interested in helping the DNR prepare a report that will be used to determine if a new golf course will be built in the Town of Wilson will have their chance Tuesday.

The agency is currently working on its review of an environmental impact report submitted by Destination Kohler on a new 18-hole golf course on land its own along Lake Michigan south of Sheboygan.  As part of this review, they have planned a public meeting for July 14 at UW-Sheboygan starting at 6 p.m. to give local residents a chance to speak to them in person.

Environmental Analysis Team Supervisor Mike Thompson says the hearing will give the agency guidance on what to focus their environmental impact statement on.  "What topics would you like to see analyzed or looked in to as the department prepares this environmental impact statement document."

The meeting will have D-N-R staff providing details on how this statement process proceeds, and then gather topics from people to focus their statement on.  Thompson says he had heard from local residents about some of their concerns, including what wildlife are in the proposed golf course area and what the water quality is in that area.

A final statement will be up for review by the end of the year.
