TOWN OF WILSON, WI (WHBL) - As Sheboygan residents get use to a long term detour around the 14th Street bridge closure, another detour is being set up for a road project just to the city’s southwest.
Starting Wednesday, the intersection of county roads “A” and “EE” in the Town of Wilson will close so that it can become a roundabout.
Sheboygan County Transportation Director Greg Schnell tells WHBL News the roundabout will address past violent traffic crashes. "When we have those common crashes occurring, we have to do something in order to improve safety, and this dates back probably into the ‘70s where we’ve been looking at this particular intersection, and we feel at this point there’s definitely a need for some improvement to provide the safety for our motoring traffic."
County Road A will be closed to thru traffic between Highway 28 and County Road V, while County Road EE will be closed between Highway 28 and County Road OK.
The preferred detour route for County Road A is to use Highway 28, South Business Drive (County Road OK, and County Road V. The route for County Road EE is Highway 28 and South Business Drive (County Road OK).
Work is expected to be completed around mid-September.
