SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan park has new playground equipment for kids ages two to five to use. If you had been around King Park this Fourth of July, you may have noticed the new equipment that was put in just in time for the holiday weekend.
The city was the recipient of a 24-thousand dollar grant from U.S. Bank to upgrade equipment at King Park near the Lake Michigan shoreline.
City Superintendent for Parks and Forestry Joe Kerlin says the money comes at a time when the city has been working on updating equipment at parks throughout Sheboygan. "It helped us, the city, to fill a void where maybe it would have been a year, two years, five years before we could have put a piece of play equipment in like that."
Also assisting the city with the grant was the ground Sheboygan Neighborhood Pride. Group President Diane Wilcenski says projects like the one at King Park are exactly the kind they want to do in the city. "In revitalizing and really making the neighborhoods more vibrant and having the people take a part in the responsibility for those neighborhoods."
U.S. Bank representative Chris Grabner also shared his thanks to all involved in securing the grant for the city during Monday's Common Council meeting.
