TOWN OF HERMAN, WI (WHBL) - A Manitowoc man is facing a burglary charge for allegedly taking items from the Muskie Mart at Lakeland College. The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department arrested 25-year-old Benjamin Endres last week after they began investigating the incident July 2.

A security guard told deputies Endres was found inside the store’s kitchen, and allegedly told him he was preparing the area for a cleaning from Specialty Services Company. A review of surveillance video, however, saw Endres removing items from shelves and putting them in a clear plastic garbage bag.

When interviewed, Endres admitted to entering the store after finding an open door, and taking items.  He says his intent was to donate most to charity, other than a few items he intended to eat. Endres, who graduated from Lakeland in 2011, said he wore his Specialty Services uniform so that he could identify himself to security and use that as a reason to be on campus.

Endres made his initial court appearance July 2, and was given a five-thousand dollar signature bond.  He faces up to 12-and-a-half years in prison if found guilty.
