Plymouth, WI (WHBL) - For the second time in as many weeks, Sheboygan County Sheriffs Deputies found themselves engaged in a very dangerous high speed chase, Tuesday night. Speeds along highways 57, J, and 67 topped 100 mph at times.
A press release issued by Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department’s Captain Cory Roeseler states that the 35 year old driver of a Chevy Silverado was wanted for allegedly making death threats against family members, Tuesday morning.
The man was tracked to a private parking lot on Walton Drive, in Plymouth, before leading five law enforcement agencies on a high speed chase.
Spike Strips Didn’t Work:
Twice during the chase deputies used a tire deflation device (spike strips), in an attempt to end the pursuit, but the driver continued - driving on rims. Witnesses reported seeing sparks flying from the tire rims scrubbing the highway asphalt
The chase was brought to an end at Highway 67 North, and County Line Road when a deputy used a pit maneuver to stop the fleeing suspect. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, and deputies say a firearm was recovered from the suspect. Charges are pending.
Captain Roeseler says the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by; the Elkhart Lake Police Department, Plymouth Police Department, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, Kiel Police Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
On May 11th, 23 year old Mary Rasmussen was arrested after leading deputies on a high speed chase. Prosecutors allege Rasmussen stole a purse from a Northside Sheboygan Wal-Mart moments before a deputy spotted her vehicle traveling on Interstate 43.
