SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man is charged with his fourth OWI offense. 51-year-old Duane Klein made an initial court appearance Tuesday for an incident that occurred Monday morning on Indiana Avenue in Sheboygan.
The criminal complaint says a Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department deputy noticed Klein on his moped making a U-turn, losing balance and ending up on the street.
The deputy went to investigate, and noticed Klein had bloodshot eyes and the smelled of alcohol. Klein tried to drive away after getting the moped righted, but the deputy was able to prevent him from leaving. When Klein got off the vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet and had slightly slurred speech.
Klein was asked to take field sobriety tests, but refused. This forced the deputy to take him into custody. A search warrant was needed to take a blood draw from Klein in order to determine his blood alcohol level.
Klein entered a plea of not guilty in court, and will have his next court hearing August 20.
