SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - Two area residents are prepared to be part of the next state Assembly for the first time starting next week, as they will represent the majority of Sheboygan County.

Terry Katsma of Oostburg, who will represent southern Sheboygan County as the 26th Assembly seat holder, says orientations have helped with his preparations.  "We learn about the Legislative Fiscal Bureau, the Legislative Audit Bureau, learning how to write bills and how bills go into law, learning that whole process," says Katsma.

Tyler Vorpagel of Plymouth, who will represent northern Sheboygan County as the 27th Assembly seat holder, says his past work in Tom Petri’s regional office has helped him.  "Knowing the things that I need to kind of be going through in my mind as far as to be prepared and be ready on January 5th," said Vorpagel.

Both Republicans are excited to take part in the next legislative session and take on the challenges with the state budget and other pressing issues.

You can hear more from Katsma and Vorpagel on the next “A Closer Look” program this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. on 1330 WHBL.
