SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The City of Sheboygan will add another code enforcement officer.  Alderpersons voted 8 to 6 to approve the hiring of a part time officer for the next two years.

City Planning and Developer Director Chad Pelishek says it will allow for more code enforcement on residential properties.  "This person would be following up on complaints that come into the office, would be going out to the center city areas and doing targeted code enforcement sweeps with the Police Department," said Pelishek

Alderman Darryl Carlson remained against the position, saying it should not be created just because there is money for it.  "I think what we need to do is focus more on the trouble properties that we already know that exist.  We don’t need to go after all the small stuff right now.  The Police Department is doing a great job with trying to literally clean up the yards." said Carlson

Alderperson Susie Lessard, who led the effort to add the position, said after the meeting she is excited and that the position is best for the city.
