UNDATED (WHBL) - It's time for another drug take-back day, a bi-annual effort to get unwanted, expired, and unused medications out of homes and safely disposed of. Attorney General J-B Van Hollen says Wisconsin has consistently seen a strong response each time it participates in the event. Van Hollen says the effort is important because of the dangers posed by leaving old medications around the house. They can be poisonous to children and can serve as a gateway drug for more dangerous forms of substance abuse, such as heroin. During the state's last take-back day in April, 25 tons of drugs were dropped off at collection sites statewide. In Sheboygan, you can bring the prescriptions to the police department drive-through on North 23rd Street between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Captain Jim Veeser said they won't accept needles or sharps, but other than that, no questions will be asked and the service is free.
