SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A website which describes itself as an online, non-partisan, for-profit election news and information source is reporting that former Assemblyman Terry Van Akkeren has a history of unpaid bills. The website Wisconsin Election Watch lists 8 incidents dating back to 1994. When contacted by WHBL, Van Akkeren said all but one of the claims have been paid, and the one which isn’t involves a major medical expense which he is contesting. He said most of the others also involved medical expenses. Van Akkeren said, “I hope voters will understand that when people and families encounter major medical problems like my wife and I have, these things can happen.” Van Akkeren is currently running for his former assembly seat in the November election.
