SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The Sheboygan County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday night approved the creation of an advisory committee to oversee the Amsterdam Dunes. Earlier this month, the county completed the $4.2 million purchase for the 333 acres east of Cedar Grove, which contains some of the last undeveloped land along southern Lake Michigan.
On WHBL's Sheboygan’s Morning News Wednesday, county board chairman Roger Te Stroete said the committee will have plenty of local input with people and government officials from the surrounding area.
Current plans for the land include opening up some parts to the public for recreational use, while using other parts to create a wetland mitigation bank to assist local businesses that want to expand.
