PLYMOUTH, WI (WHBL) - A group of four Plymouth High School students are in Madison Thursday competing in a statewide student chef competition. Culinary Arts and Food Science teacher Gale Litt says their entry was one of five finalists selected from 140 statewide, using their own recipe consisting of locally grown foods and dairy products. Their recipe is a southwest stuffed green pepper with pinto beans, tomatoes, dieced potatoes and whole grain rice for filling and topped with mozzarella and pepper jack cheeses.
Litt said entering this competition works well with her curriculum of providing students authentic learning experiences where what they do in the classroom can simulate what they can do when they have jobs outside of schooling.
Litt says the team’s recipe - plus a few others from her classes - have been used by the school’s food service program.
