PLYMOUTH, WI (WHBL) - Most city of Plymouth residents will begin paying a fee for recycling services next year. The city’s Common Council voted unanimously this week to begin assessing a fee next year for those who get service from the city and live either in a single family home or complexes with four or less units.
Clerk Treasurer Patricia Huberty says the fee - starting January 1, 2015 - will be $9.50 for the year, and will increase to $19 in 2016 and to $28.50 in 2017. The city has been fully funding the recycling program in the past, but increased costs led to the fee to ensure the program’s long term financial health.
Commercial and larger residential properties are not affected by the fee, since most get recycling services from other providers.
