SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The city of Sheboygan is continuing to work with the owner of the Boston Store property in downtown Sheboygan in the hopes of redeveloping the property.

Planning Director Chad Pelishek, on Sheboygan’s Morning News Thursday morning, said it’s been difficult because the owner lives in California, but communications lines remain open .

Pelishek said having a big-box retailer in the downtown is a thing of the past and the fact that the building is in poor condition makes demolition a possibility.  He said that might not be all bad since it would open up some streets that are currently blocked by the building, improving flow of Eighth Avenue and bring in new development.

The Boston Store has been closed since the end of January.  Pelishek said later this month the business improvement district will release its master plan that will help determine what property can be aquired locally to start redevelopment of the area.
