SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Work continues on trying to get a budget in place for 2014 for Sheboygan County. County Administrator Adam Payne told the county board Tuesday that the county is limited by state statute to keep their tax levy increase for next year to less than one-percent. He said that means the county is limited to an increase of $387,000. Payne said work will continue over the next weeks to try to trim over half-a-million dollars from the current budget plan to meet this level. As for what impact this will have on county taxpayers, there will be an increase in the county tax rate due to a drop in equalized property values. The increase should be around 13 dollars for a 100-thousand dollar home.
