SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Three Sheboygan County parochial schools will take part in the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program this upcoming school year.

The Department of Public Instruction announced Thursday it received over 2,400 applications for the expanded school voucher program.  Since only 500 students can receive a voucher, the 25 of the 48 schools that wanted to take part that received the most applications will receive vouchers.  This includes Sheboygan Christian School, Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School, and St. John Lutheran School in Plymouth.

Next week, the DPI will select which 500 students from the 2,069 that submitted applications for these 25 schools will actually get vouchers.  Each school is guaranteed to get 10 vouchers, while the remaining 250 will be randomly selected amongst all other applications.

Two other Sheboygan parochial schools, St. Paul Lutheran School and Sheboygan County Christian High School, did not receive enough applications to take part this year.
