SHEBOYGAN, Wis.(WHBL) - A former Sheboygan County Board Chairman has become the first candidate to take out nomination papers for the office of Mayor in the Spring Election. Mike Vandersteen, who currently serves on the county board, has taken out papers and has until January 2nd to turn them in. Candidates seeking office in the April election could begin circulating nomination papers on December 1st. The mayor’s office and half of the city council will be up for election in April. Mayor Terry Van Akkeren, who was elected in the recall last February to serve out the term of Bob Ryan, is expected to seek a full 4-year term in April.
