SHEBOYGAN, Wis.(WHBL) - The Sheboygan City Council recently enacted an ordinance requiring taxicabs in the city to be equipped with meters as of January first.  Last night, the person who got the ball rolling, Chris Balassi, owner of Greco Cab, appeared before the council to cry “foul”.   Balassi said he pushed for the meters to make fares charged by all cab companies more fair to the customer.  He said he was told it would cost about $200 per cab, until he got a letter recently informing him of an additional 40 dollar meter, a 50 dollar processing fee and an annual fee of 30 dollars.  Balassi said that's a lot of money for small businesses to come up with.  He said those charges never came up during the meetings on the ordinance and he asked aldermen to re-visit the issue.
