SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The Sheboygan Area School District has approved plans for support staff early retirement and a health reimbursement account.
By a 7 to 2 vote, the board of education approved a buyout for around two dozen support staff personnel to retire early. The district will spend just over 400 thousand dollars, but the savings they will have with wages over the next five school years will cover that and save an additional 400 thousand dollars.
Also, by a unanimous vote, the board approved funding for the health reimbursement account. The plan will cover 27-percent of the district’s current debt for owed health accounts, plan to cover the rest of the balance on a scheduled payment plan, and keep the fund balance around 20-percent. This debt is scheduled to be paid in full over the next several decades.
