SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Three people needed rescuing from Lake Michigan Friday morning near Deland Park.
Sheboygan Fire Department Lt. Tim Kohlbeck said they got word around 10:30 of a person struggling in the water. Crews arrived a few minutes later and found out two adolescent females were on a raft about 150 yards from shore when winds pushed them out towards open water. At some point the females became detached from the raft and were struggling to keep their heads above water.
The mother of one of the females did swim to assist. A fire department personnel was able to reach the three and aided in getting them to shore.
Kohlbeck said no injuries were reported, and the department was assisted by Sheboygan Police and the U.S. Coast Guard.
