SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A wildlife creation project in Sheboygan County may result in the incidental taking of two species that are state endangered or threatened. The DNR says the creation of 1.2 acres of wetland in the Heimann parcel might reduce the population of eastern ribbonsnake and Blanding’s turtle.
A permit has been proposed that would allow the DNR to go forward with the wetland creation. It is their determination that whatever number of endangered species is lost, it will not impede the species’ overall survival and recovery.
