SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Weyauwega Cheese is holding a job fair to hire new workers at the former Dean's Veryfine milk plant.

The company is turning that facility into Sheboygan's Old World Butter as part of their Old World Creamery line of products as the company branches out into the butter market. Consultant Patrick Cannon says their perfect candidate is one with experience in dairy processing. "If they work in cheese or something like that or in milk processing, someone who understands the mechanics of running the machinery. It's going to be a lot of machine work in the processing side and packaging and those kind of things." He says the plant will initially only be packaging butter but will move to production next year as equipment and production lines are installed in the factory.

Cannon says the Weyauwega Old World Butter facility will be offering top of the line employment for the area. "Not only do they offer a good, competitive wage, but they also offer health insurance and retirement plans, and some paid vacation and paid holidays. So it's not just a straight hourly that you'd pick up, there's a lot of benefits." Entry level positions will begin at $15 per hour plus benefits, with skilled positions at higher scales.

The Job Fair is Thursday September 15th from 10 am to 1 pm and then 3 to 6 pm at the plant itself. Potential employees will be able to get a tour and meet the new owners before putting in applications. The first wave of hiring is expected to total around 20 employees, with a total of around 100 by the time the plant is fully operational in September of next year.
