PLYMOUTH, WI (WHBL) - Tomorrow night at the Plymouth Arts Center it's the annual Chowdown in Cheesetown for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sheboygan.
Executive Director Tim Kaker says people should come out and enjoy themselves. "It's a nice day, capturing the last rays of summer, and great great music. Little Blues Machine does a fabulous job." Amateur chefs representing groups and businesses around Sheboygan will be grilling up food to sample, and there's plenty of other events going on. "Grab a plate and make your rounds an take what interests you and eat to your heart's content and if you want to wash it down with a beverage you can do that."
The fundraiser is one of the groups two major events each year, along with the annual Bowl For Kids Sake. Kaker says BBBS relies on that funding, along with funds from the United Way and other partners to keep their work going. "We're in our 51st year of serving the community's children. Last year we had 433 kids matched with a like number of mentors." He says the goal is to make sure the next generation of citizens are ready by helping children become self-assured and self-reliant young people.
The event runs from 5 to 9 pm, tickets are $60 in advance, and you can find out more online at http://bbbssc.org/events-and-activities/chowdown-in-cheesetown/
