SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - One person is under arrest following a high speed chase this morning through rural Sheboygan County.
Deputies were performing a traffic stop on at Kvindlog's Services in Waldo around 1:10 this morning, when the suspect sped away from the scene on Highway 57. Deputies chased after the driver, and tried to stop their vehicle with a PIT maneuver. The move was unsuccessful, but another deputy was able to deflate the vehicle's driver's side tires with a spike strip.
The driver continued heading south on Highway 57 when they moved their vehicle over to the northbound lanes of traffic. Deputies tried another PIT maneuver, and knocked the suspect's vehicle into the median. The suspect tried to flee northbound, but more spike strips deflated the rest of the vehicle's tires, and a third PIT maneuver brought the chase to an end.
The driver then tried to flee on foot, but was taken into custody after being tased.
Two squad cars were damaged in the chase, but no one was injured. The suspect is being held on a probation hold, and deputies are asking for charges of Eluding, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
