SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A fight at Brat Days leads to felony charges for a Sheboygan man.
24-year-old Leonardo Spatola faces numerous charges including escape, assaulting an officer, and possession of cocaine.
According to the criminal complaint, police were patrolling Brat Days on Friday when some patrons reported that Spatola had knocked out another patron and was trying to get away. Officers quickly spotted Spatola in the south tent, and when they approached they say he tried to run from them.
Officers say they were forced to fight to get him into custody, and that Spatola allegedly struck one of them in the face with his elbow. Police managed to get handcuffs on him but he tried to get away once again when he was being checked out by paramedics. Spatola then fled from police, but didn't get far before crashing headlong into a chain link fence.
During a search, police say they found a baggie of cocaine in Spatola's pocket.
Spatola is being held on a probation hold, and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing next week.
