SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Officials at the Sheboygan County humane society are asking for help in fostering cats this summer.
Executive director Leah Helms says they're seeing up to 60 cats in a week that are surrendered or found as strays. The shelter is currently dealing with over 20 sick kittens, and are looking for a chance to home them separately for a time to help them get better. "We provide all medications, all treatments, of course spay, neuter, vaccines. We just need you to house them. If they're taken away from a large population that's sick, they recover a lot faster and they get healthier a lot sooner."
Helms says that homes will be inspected and potential fosters will have to fill out an application. You can also choose how many kittens you take in. "You get to dictate how many you want. Do you want one? Do you want six? Or do you want a mom and kittens, because we have those too." The kittens will be held until they're at least eight weeks old and then put up for adoption. Helms also doesn't mind if people go through a 'foster failure' and keep the cats they take home.
